About The Cookies

  • Can the cookies be frozen or microwaved?
Mr. Nelson’s Cookies® contain no added chemical preservatives and are best when consumed within a day or two of when you receive them.  If that is not possible, Mr. Nelson recommends that you freeze the cookies in their original wrapper in an airtight bag for future consumption – completely thaw, remove from wrapper and microwave for 10-15 seconds. Remember, if you microwave, always remove the cookie from the wrapper (the foil “star” sticker could catch on fire!) before putting in the microwave; then, microwave 10-15 seconds.
  • Does Mr. Nelson make sugar-free cookies?
Mr. Nelson does not offer sugar-free cookies.
  • Do your chocolate chip cookies contain nuts?
Mr. Nelson’s Chocolate Chip Cookies contain no nuts, and they are made in a nut-free bakery.
  • What is the weight and size of the cookie?
Each cookie is approximately 3 ¼ “in diameter and each weighs just under a quarter-pound!  A lot of cookie!

Background

  • Where are the cookies made?
Mr. Nelson’s Cookies® are made in a small, custom-made bakery on the edge of the Tonto National Forest at the base of the beautiful Superstition Mountains in Gold Canyon, Arizona.   His bakery is carefully inspected and approved by Pinal County, Arizona Environmental Health Services.
  • Why the “batch number” and the “Fran” signature?
Francis (“Fran” – to his friends) Nelson Beebe is an artisan baker.  His cookies are made in small quantities (batches.)  He tastes a finished cookie from each batch.  His “Fran” signature tells you he believes your cookies accurately represent his craft of chocolate chip cookies making.
  • Who makes the chocolate chip cookies?

First, there really is a “Mr. Nelson.”  And he is the only person who makes his cookies.  In fact, he personally makes, bakes, and wraps only 24 dozen perfect chocolate chip cookies a day, 4 days a week. I guess you could call Mr. Nelson not only a “one-man-show;” but, also, a “one-trick-pony,” as he only makes one type of cookie….nothing else!

  • Why only chocolate chip cookies?
Mr. Nelson is one of the few formally and classically-trained chefs who consider chocolate chip cookies as one of the major food groups!  And, as such, he has created over the last couple of decades (yes, decades) what he believe is a chocolate chip cookie of extraordinary taste and texture.
